The States Where Jobs Are Disappearing and Where They’re Moving to Instead

Indiana’s job market came out almost perfectly even, with new jobs and lost jobs matching each other. The state still creates work through manufacturing, logistics, health care, agriculture, education, and the businesses tied to its major cities and transportation routes.

But Indiana also sees jobs disappear when factories slow production, companies cut costs, or smaller towns struggle to attract new employers. Since manufacturing is such a big part of the state’s economy, shifts in demand can quickly affect workers. This time, gains and losses mostly cancelled each other out.
