#14: Alabama
Jobs Gained: 5.4%
Jobs Lost: 5.5%
Alabama was very close to balanced, but job losses came in slightly higher than job gains. New work can come from auto manufacturing, aerospace, shipbuilding, health care, logistics, construction, and the state’s growing business hubs.

But some jobs are still disappearing as companies deal with higher costs, slower demand, or pressure on older industries. Smaller communities can also have a harder time replacing lost work. Alabama was still creating jobs, but not quite fast enough to fully offset the losses.
