#19: Ohio
Jobs Gained: 5.1%
Jobs Lost: 5.3%
Ohio’s job market was not in free fall, but losses did outpace gains. New jobs can come from health care, manufacturing, logistics, education, finance, and business services, especially around Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and other metro areas.

At the same time, Ohio can lose jobs when factories cut back, older industries shrink, or companies move work to lower-cost areas. Retail and service jobs can also be sensitive to slower spending. The state is still creating work, but not quite enough to stay ahead.
