Connecticut kept creating jobs in health care, finance, insurance, education, manufacturing, defense, and professional services. The state has a skilled workforce and a strong base of employers, especially in and around Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford.

Still, job losses were noticeably higher than gains. High costs, office downsizing, slower business growth, and pressure on older industries can all affect hiring. Connecticut was not without opportunity, but the numbers show losses pulling ahead.
