Delaware still had jobs being created in finance, health care, logistics, retail, education, tourism, and business services. Its location between major East Coast markets can help support shipping, corporate work, and service jobs.

But job losses had a much bigger lead. Some companies may cut back because of higher costs, slower demand, or changes in office and retail work. Delaware’s smaller size also means business closures or contractions can make a bigger mark on the state’s job numbers.
