The States Where Jobs Are Disappearing and Where They’re Moving to Instead

Oregon was still creating jobs, especially in health care, technology, tourism, food production, construction, and local services. The Portland area and the state’s outdoor travel scene can help bring in new work when businesses are expanding.

But job losses were clearly stronger here. Some companies may cut back because of higher costs, slower demand, office changes, or pressure on retail and service businesses. Oregon still had jobs forming, but not enough to keep up with the ones disappearing.
